Specialist Healthcare Research Expertise, When You Need It.

ABOUT OXSIM

Qualitative Research at the Heart of Healthcare Innovation

Oxsim Health Research was founded to make high-quality, patient-centred research more accessible — without the burden of a full-time hire.
I am Dr Simon Fletcher, the founder and sole consultant at Oxsim. I am a registered nurse, qualitative researcher, and published academic with more than three decades of clinical and research experience across the NHS, university, and independent sectors.
Working as a sole trader, I partner directly with pharmaceutical companies, patient organisations, academic institutions, NHS trusts, and other research-active bodies across the UK. You work directly with me — no junior staff, no account managers, no diluted expertise.

MY BACKGROUND

Three Decades of Specialist Haematology Research

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1991 and spent much of my subsequent career in specialist and research roles at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust — including nearly a decade as Lead Research Nurse at the Oxford Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre.
I joined Haemnet as Principal Investigator, leading multiple funded qualitative studies across rare haematological conditions, before taking a postdoctoral research position at the University of Oxford on the CureHeart cardiac gene therapy programme.
My doctoral research — the Exigency Programme — is one of the most comprehensive qualitative investigations of gene therapy from the patient perspective undertaken in the UK, completed as a PhD by published works at Oxford Brookes University in 2025.
